Sustainable Sanctuaries – reconnecting people, place and nature

As life becomes more complex and stressful, as urban sprawl spreads and natural resources decrease, as more of us work from home and travel less often, our homes, gardens and workplaces must increasingly be places of sanctuary, self-sufficiency and inspiration for ourselves, our families, colleagues and visitors.

We can all help our regions to be more robust and sustainable during times of challenge and change. Working together, we can establish and maintain sanctuary inside ourselves, our homes, our neighbourhoods and the broader environment.

Sustainable Sanctuaries aims to inspire people to live with greater awareness of the natural environment and beauty, to help re-spiritualise the land and to live with a lighter footprint – for in order to protect the environment, we must identify with and cherish it.

Landscape design services and workshops help clients to create their own personalised, energy efficient, productive and beautiful “sustainable sanctuaries” which promote wellbeing and stress reduction. People and places become integrated and mutually nourishing.

“Sustainable sanctuaries” are therefore both internal and external, and can be any scale – home units to acreage properties, individual homes to a whole region. On a bigger scale, of course, the whole earth should ideally be a sustainable sanctuary for all of its inhabitants – human and non-human. After all, it’s not all about us……..

It’s about honouring the spirit of nature
