{"id":311,"date":"2015-11-12T00:57:26","date_gmt":"2015-11-12T00:57:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sustainablesanctuaries.com.au\/?page_id=311"},"modified":"2016-05-15T09:16:28","modified_gmt":"2016-05-15T09:16:28","slug":"house-and-garden-packages","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.sustainablesanctuaries.com.au\/index.php\/portfolio\/landscape-design\/house-and-garden-packages\/","title":{"rendered":"House and garden packages"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Small decorative Queenslander house &#8211; Maryborough QLD<\/h2>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nProject:<\/strong> House and garden renovation on a tight budget, while in keeping with character of Queenslander houses and local streetscape, and incorporating sustainability principles.<\/p>\n<p>External works included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>House painting to owner-designed colour scheme with water-based acrylics by Renascence Decoration and Design (Painters and Decorators)<\/li>\n<li>Paint sealing of all exposed fibro (mostly in garage)<\/li>\n<li>Extensive garden beds with both native and exotic plantings to attract birds and provide corner-block privacy from street<\/li>\n<li>Installation of fencing, rainwater tanks and compost bins<\/li>\n<li>Removal of half the back lawn for an organic vegetable garden with gravel pathways; and feature pots, sculptures and bird baths<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Internal works included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Removal of lino, carpet and masonite flooring in order to satin-finish polish hardwood floorboards under<\/li>\n<li>Stripping of tired and discoloured oil-based paints from wardrobes, tongue-and-groove timber walls and kauri pine picture rails; and repainting to owner-designed colour scheme with water-based acrylics<\/li>\n<li>Feature-trim tiling to \u201clift\u201d existing tiles in kitchen and bathroom<\/li>\n<li>Addition of internal timber fretwork to complement existing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The project was entered into the 2009 Fraser Coast Heritage Awards.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Date:<\/strong> 2003 &#8211; 2008<\/p>\n<div class=\"pdf\">\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sustainablesanctuaries.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/1-Wilson-Street-plan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Small Queenslander &#8211; garden plan<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sustainablesanctuaries.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/2-Wilson-before-and-after.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Small Queenslander &#8211; before and after photos<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Small decorative Queenslander house &#8211; Maryborough QLD Project: House and garden renovation on a tight budget, while in keeping with character of Queenslander houses and local streetscape, and incorporating sustainability principles.
